rollr is an online multiplayer Yahtzee game built around one question: can you beat a mathematically optimal bot? The Optimal-DP bot uses dynamic programming to calculate the best possible move at every step — the same technique used in academic research on the game. Its expected score is ~246 points. Good luck.

Each turn you roll 5 dice up to 3 times. After each roll you can keep any dice and re-roll the rest. After your final roll you must choose a category to score.

The game has 13 categories split into two sections. Fill all 13 to end the game. The player with the highest total wins.

Upper Section

Ones – Sixes — sum of the matching dice only. Score at least 63 points total in the upper section to earn a +35 bonus.

Lower Section

Three of a kind — sum of all dice (if 3+ match)
Four of a kind — sum of all dice (if 4+ match)
Full House — 3 of one + 2 of another → 25 pts
Small straight — 4 sequential → 30 pts
Large straight — 5 sequential → 40 pts
rollr — all 5 dice the same → 50 pts
Chance — sum of all dice, no requirements

Every category can only be used once. You can always enter 0 in any open category.

Multiplayer — create a room, share the 4-letter code with friends. Up to 5 players. Bots fill empty slots.

Daily Challenge — every day a new set of dice is generated from the date. Everyone in the world plays the same rolls. Your score goes on the global leaderboard.

Greedy — picks the highest scoring category each turn. No planning, no bonus strategy. Avg. score ~215.

Bonus-Aware — same as Greedy but actively targets the 35 point upper bonus. Slightly better in the long run. Avg. score ~216.

Optimal-DP — uses dynamic programming over all 524,288 possible game states to find the mathematically optimal decision at every single roll. Knows exactly how much each category is worth given the current scorecard. Avg. score ~246. The closest thing to a perfect Yahtzee player.
